An inquest has opened into the death of a man found unresponsive in his home.

Darren Ward, 54, of Shirley High Street, Southampton, was found dead on October 17, an inquest heard.

The inquest into his death was opened by senior coroner Christopher Wilkinson on Monday, January 20.

Mr Wilkinson said that Mr Ward was found unresponsive in his flat by Mr Ward's father on October 17, after he had been unable to contact him.

The preliminary cause of death has been given as cardiac arrhythmia, fatty liver disease and cocaine dependency.

The full inquest will be heard at Winchester Coroners' Court on April 7, 2026.
