A yellow cold health alert has been issued for Southampton by the UK Health Security Agency.

The health alert is in place from 6pm on Thursday, January 16, until 9am on Tuesday, January 21.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the UK Health Security Agency said: “Forecast weather is likely to have minor impacts on health and social care services.

“This includes increased use of healthcare services by vulnerable people and greater risk to life of vulnerable people.”

The yellow health alert comes into force following the Met Office forecasting a drop in temperature across the region over the coming days.

While Thursday evening will look gloomy, temperatures will drop from 9C to highs of 6C on Friday, January 17.

Temperatures will drop again on Saturday, January 18, with the outlook set to be overcast with a day-high temperature of 5C.

The weather will get gradually warmer, rising to 6C on Sunday, January 19, before temperatures reach 8C on Monday, January 20.
