This popular pub at the heart of the community in Millbrook is to reopen following a near quarter of a million pound makeover.

The Bricklayers Arms on Wimpson Lane, known as The Brickies, will open its doors once again on Friday January 31 at 6pm, hosting popular local soul and motown band, Pulse, later that evening.

New flooring, fixtures, fittings and furniture will breathe fresh life into the pub, run by Yaz Rodriguez since March 2024.

A walkway is currently being installed to connect the two separate bar areas and the pub will be completed with dart boards and a pool table for customers to enjoy.

It's all part of a £240,000 transformation investment by owners Proper Pubs, part of the Admiral Taverns group.

The pub looks fantastic, and it will be a delight to welcome back our customers.

"On top of the fantastic drinks selection, we will also run a busy schedule of entertainment, including regular live music, pool and darts teams for those looking for a bit of friendly competition.

"I’ve loved every minute of my time at the pub so far and I look forward to continuing to create a vibrant social hub, where everyone feels welcome, that can sit at the heart of the community."

There will be collections for the local food bank and charity events for Southampton: Doing It For The Kids.

Matthew Gurney, Operations Director for Proper Pubs, added: "It’s been a real joy to see The Bricklayers Arms take shape and I’m delighted to welcome Yaz back to the helm. Her dedication to both the pub and the community is clear, and I’m excited to see all that lies ahead for this special pub."
