A busy road in Fareham is set to be put under the pressure of temporary traffic lights for 15 weeks.

Footway resurfacing works on Highlands Road in the market town started yesterday, resulting in temporary traffic lights all day every day for the best part of four months.

In a letter sent to residents, Hampshire County Council's Highways team say that works will be carried out between 9.30am and 4pm every day.

An alternative footpath will be provided for pedestrians.

The letter also warns locals that any vehicles left parked on the road will 'face the risk' of being removed if they obstruct workers.

Works will be focused on the western side of Highlands Road between The Avenue and Oak Road.

The letter also warns that the resurfacing uses a separate layer of bitumen on top of the asphalt pavement.

It says: "In order to avoid potential injury or damage, please do not walk across the footway during the works unless directed by a member of the workforce."
