A shocking video shows the moment a heedless driver behind the wheel of a stolen car ploughs into a police officer.
Marvin Geddes, 33, was travelling at approximately 40mph when he rammed into PC Derek Hearn.
Bodycam footage from PC Hearn shows Geddes pelting towards him at high speed, before passing through a chicane and hitting him with the bonnet of the Honda Civic.
The car struck PC Hearn’s leg, before he was forcefully thrown off his bike and onto his left side.
He was driving at approximately 40mph when the crash occurred.
Geddes then sped away from the scene.
During his sentencing on January 10, Southampton Crown Court heard how he was involved in a second collision shortly after.
He sped off towards Lordshill Centre West where he crashed into a Peugeot 108, forcing it off the road.
Geddes then abandoned his vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
The court also heard how prior to the incidents, he was driving through red lights and going the wrong way on a roundabout.

He was arrested a week after the offences were committed.
Speaking after the sentencing, PC Hearn said: “I feel lucky that I haven’t lost a limb or even my life from this incident.
“As a police officer, I pride myself on doing my job to the best of my ability to safeguard the public. I do not accept that my life should be put in danger because of that.”
Geddes, of Epping Close, Southampton, was jailed for four years.
He was also banned from driving for 32 months.
