An inquest has opened into the death of a care home resident who died after appearing to choke on his dinner.
Michael John McNulty, 89, died on December 1. An inquest into his death was opened at Winchester Coroners' Court by area coroner Nicholas Walker on Wednesday.
Mr Walker said that Mr McNulty was a resident of Colbury House Nursing Home, in Hillstreet, Calmore, at the time of his death.

According to the coroner, Mr McNulty was eating his dinner in the dining room when he appeared to start choking.
He was moved to his room where he became unresponsive and an ambulance was called.
The preliminary cause of death has been given as cardio-respiratory arrest and an upper airway obstruction due to food.
Mr Walker said that Mr McNulty also had a background of ischaemic heart disease.
Mr Walker adjourned the inquest to take place in full on October 14, 2025.
