A homeowner has won an appeal for a two-storey extension after a council rejection.
Frederick Thomson’s plan for his home in Pinegrove Road in Southampton was initially refused by Southampton City Council.
However, following a site visit on August 20, planning inspector G Roberts overturned the decision, granting permission for the extensions.
The council had raised concerns about the impact of the development on the character of the area and the living conditions of neighbours, particularly those nearby.
However, the inspector found that the proposed changes would not be significantly harmful and noted similar extensions in the area.
The decision allows Mr Thomson to proceed with the extensions, which must begin within three years and adhere to specific approved plans and materials.
Construction had already begun on the ground floor extension, which the appellant believed to be permitted development.
