An English teacher from Southampton was drawn into a heated argument with another contestant during the third episode of BBC’s The Traitors.

The latest episode of the show saw tensions reach boiling point as the group struggles to work out who is a faithful and who is a traitor.

Early on in episode three, 37-year-old Southampton teacher Joe is involved in a talk with contestants Jake and Dan about their suspicions of Kasim and Linda – the latter of the two being a traitor.

Here Joe makes it abundantly clear he thinks Kasim is a traitor, laying the foundations for a heated conflict later in the episode.

The show puts 25 contestants together and has host Claudia Winkleman secretly pick three individuals to be the traitors.

These traitors then have the task of ‘murdering’ (sending home) other contestants without raising any suspicion or they risk being voted out.

In the wake of the episodes row boat challenge, Jake tells Joe ‘I think tonight’s round table is going to get a bit hostile’ with Joe responding ‘it's going to be a big one.’

As the round table begins in the latter half of the episode, tensions finally reach boiling point when Joe asks Linda who she thinks is lying to the group.

Speaking at the round table, Joe says to Linda: “I find it a bit weird that you’ve not got one opinion who might be a traitor," with her replying: “Well I think you might be.”

The 37-year-old teacher responded by sarcastically saying ‘great’ and rolling his eyes.

Jake then brings up Kasim, a 33-year-old doctor, and says he feels he might "save lives during the day and kill during the night".

Tensions finally boil over when Kasim responds to Jake by claiming he is comparing him to notorious serial killer Harold Shipman – with Joe visibly outraged by Kasim's comment.

This ultimately prompts Joe to vote for Kasim with him adding: “Kas I have been so 50/50 on you being a traitor but sat here tonight and seeing how you have reacted to some of Jake's comments, I just don’t believe you and I think you’re a traitor.”

Despite Kasim receiving a large number of votes it was ultimately traitor Armani who was sent home.
