A resident on a quiet road in Totton has been left furious after blocked drains caused flooding up to her doorstep twice in the last month.
Alison Wiseman of Roseleigh Drive said that she cannot walk out of her front door ‘unless she is in wellies’ whenever ‘there is a bit of heavy rain.'
Recent rain over the weekend saw knee-depth flooding on the road and in nearby play area, as Alison saw water rising up to the bottom of the swing seats.
The resident believes that flooding could easily become a safety hazard.
“The kids are back at school, and they were all riding their bikes through it and falling off into it,” Alison said.

Alison said that she had tried to contact Hampshire County Council’s Highways team about the problem, but that she was eventually told to call 101 via a form on the council’s website.

“I can’t get anybody to do anything about it,” she said.
“They say that they’ll look at it, but they don’t come out for a week, so when they do turn up they ask where the flooding is.
“It was here a week ago, we always say.”
The nearby play park has been flooded too. (Image: Supplied) Alison said that workers have been out to investigate the source of the problem but do not seem to ever find it.

She said: “A man came before and he told me he couldn’t do anything about the rain and drove off.
“The drains are obviously not working, or they are inadequate. It’s just ridiculous.”
The road and play park are flooded whenever there is heavier rain, Alison explained, and she said every few years, the problem eventually gets so bad that somebody finally does something about it.

“We are led to believe that with global warming, heavy rain is going to occur a lot more often,” she said.
“Do we have to deal with this every single time?”
A spokesperson for Hampshire County Council said: “We are aware of the flooding issues in this area and our Highways team are currently investigating the matter.
"They will check the highway surface water drains to ensure they aren't blocked as well as the condition of the nearby water course, which is on private land, as this has been found to be the cause previously.”
