The yellow rain weather warning issued in Southampton and the south of England by Met Office has now been lifted.

Stokes Bay Road in Gosport has reopened this morning after closing last night due to high tides and strong winds.

Hampshire County Council asked all drivers and pedestrians to seek alternatives routes over safety issues on the road, closing it at 9pm last night until 8am this morning.

Bluestar has removed their weather warning from their website, suggesting they do not anticipate services being disrupted by the rain.

The bus provider said: "We encourage you to plan ahead and check our app and website for service updates because if there are any changes to services due to the weather, this is where you will find them."

Red Funnel services are still operating as normal this morning despite the rain weather warning.

The flood warning is expected to be lifting at 12pm today.

Despite the warning lifting, a flood alert has been issued for Southampton Water and Hamble.

The warning on gov.uk says: "Monday's early morning tide at 03:15 on 06/01/2025 and 04:30 on 06/01/2025 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather, with strong Southerly Force 6 winds.

"The weather increases tide table values by 0.88 m. The total forecast tide is 5.27 metres Chart Datum (2.53 mAOD) at Southampton.

"For 1 hour either side of high water, minor impact flooding will affect the lower floor of Eling Tide Mill and Eling Lane. Road and car park flooding will occur at Ashlett Creek (Fawley), Woodmill Lane, the Quay and Ropewalk (Hamble), Rising Sun Pub (Warsash), Magazine Lane (Marchwood) and Shore Road (Hythe).

"Water will come close to property nearest the estuary at Testwood and will affect boat yards at Bursledon.

"Monday afternoon's tide at 15:30 06/01/2025 is forecast to be 70 cm lower (1.83 mAOD).

"No further flood impacts are expected. We continue to monitor the forecast.

"Avoid parking in low lying coastal car parks and plan driving routes to avoid the roads listed above."

The Met Office is set to lift their yellow weather warning for rain at 9am this morning.

The weather expert warns that in some areas, further heavy rainfall could disrupt services, though this is not predicted to be the case in Southampton.
