He’s best known for his Mr Men mosaics and sticking his homemade Southampton Football Club artwork to the outside of Fratton Park but ‘Mr Mosaic’ is preparing for his next creative venture.
Southampton artist, Will Rosie, is working on a Monopoly trail that would see people of all ages hunt the city for clues to find the next Monopoly square, that would be displayed on up to 40 businesses between Bedford Place and Town Quay.
Bringing the popular boardgame to life, the mosaicist plans to have a fully developed game ready for the summer – featuring 30cm x 48cm mosaic monopoly squares recreating the same designs found on a monopoly board.
“I think it will be really fun,” said Will, who’s already helped create created zebra, rhino, and lighthouse trails in the city over the past few years.

He said: “I know I’m good at creating mosaics but if I can use that skill to create something for free and hopefully generate a bit of income and creativity into Southampton, that would be brilliant.
“I’ve already designed all of the Mr Men characters and displayed them around the city, and I found myself playing Monopoly with my children one day and I thought to myself, ‘maybe this is the next project.’”
With players able to allocate themselves a team, Southampton’s in-person take on Monopoly would see competitors race each other to find all of the clues the fastest, before returning to the ‘Go’ Monopoly square.
Will added: “It’s something I’ve begun work on and hope to have everything ready to go by the summer.
“I want to get as many people involved as possible as one of the challenges will be installing the mosaics to the walls, windows, or shutters of various businesses.
“I’ve already reached out to a couple and both Mettricks in Guildhall Square and WJ French and Son in Bedford Place, so once I start speaking to more businesses, I hope it’s something that will really catch on and people will want to be part of it.
“I think at the end of the day we all want to promote the city, and I think it could be a great initiative.”
