A planning application has been submitted to Eastleigh Borough Council to see a former waterfront restaurant in Hamble turned into two homes.

Former bar and grill restaurant, Beer Grylls, on Rope Walk has been closed for more than two years after a number of planning applications failed to get the green light.

The reason given by the council was that the proposed development does not provide sufficient on-site parking to serve the development and likely to result in overspill parking into surrounding streets.

The site comprises of two Grade II listed buildings set at waterfront just off the Hight Street of Hamble.

Prior to operating as Beer Grylls, the restaurant was known as ‘The Slipway’ and was popular amongst residents for its view over the waterfront.

With the application, two homes are proposed; one with two bedrooms and the other with four bedrooms.
