A popular event has fallen victim to the weather after organisers decided to cancel it with weather warnings set to come into force.
Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service has cancelled its New Year's Day Swim with the region set to be battered by heavy rain and strong winds tomorrow.
The event was due to take place at midday in Stokes Bay.
Gusts of 65-75 miles per hour are expected, and the Met Office has urged people to be aware of large waves.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind, in force from 12.15am until 3pm.
A spokesperson for GAFIRS said: "With the Met Office weather warning still in place for tomorrow, we have taken the decision to cancel the New Year's Day Swim.
"The safety and welfare of everyone at the event is always our number one priority so we would ask that you also do not attend the beach tomorrow and follow the advice from the Met Office to avoid coastal areas as there are likely to be larger than average waves and possibly debris in the water.
"This will not only keep you safe, but also our crews who may be called to assist with anyone in difficulty."
The event is the lifeboat's biggest fundraiser of the year, and organisers have asked those who were due to take part to consider donating by texting LIFEBOAT to 70580 to donate £5.
