A man caught driving a BMW “on three wheels” headbutted an officer after a dramatic police chase.

Police were called shortly after 7am on Sunday after members of the public raised concerns about the driver of a car.

Officers were told a black BMW 220i was being driven on three wheels in the Lymington area.

The vehicle was found in Lymington High Street, but the driver refused to stop, and a police chase ensued.

The car was shortly stopped by police on Lower Buckland Road, where the driver tried to drive away again but was stopped with a taser.

He then headbutted an officer.

A 23-year-old man from New Milton was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, failing to provide a specimen, criminal damage, and assaulting an emergency worker.

He has since been released on bail while further enquiries are carried out.
