A dramatic police chase came to an abrupt end with the driver being tasered.

The black BMW 2-Series was asked to pull over by police officers in an unmarked car but quickly made off.

It sped through the roads before eventually the unmarked car made tactical contact, bringing the car to a halt in some bushes at the side of the road.

Police officers said the driver “presented a danger to the public” and tasered them before detaining him.

The dramatic chase came to an end on Sunday morning, December 29 in Lower Buckland Road, Lymington, at the junction with Southampton Road.

Witnesses reported several police cars on blue lights in the area once the chase came to an end.

One said they saw the car tearing down New Street at about 7am that day.

Hampshire Police’s traffic officers said: “Vehicle reported to police early this morning driving on a wheel rim and up and down kerbs.

“On seeing police, the vehicle tried to make off and presented a danger to the public. Tactical contact was made and the driver detained after use of a taser.”

Hampshire Constabulary has been contacted for more details.
