A circus show that strives to be accessible is set to return to Norwich.

Circus Starr has announced that all their performances will be signed in British Sign Language (BSL).

The not-for-profit organisation was the first circus to have an interpreter at its events, and now the service will be a permanent addition to their winter tour.

Providing a BSL signer means that deaf audience members will be involved in all aspects of the performance.

Circus Starr tailors events to suit disabled, disadvantaged, and additional needs children.

The Community Interest Company (CIC) lowers the volume, tones down the lights, provides sensory packs, and offers free tickets.

The organisation said the whole operation is only possible thanks to donations from 'community-driven' businesses in the area.

The 2025 production will feature fan favourites including Nula Hula, who performs a sensory hula-hoop act.

Ringmistress Lorna and Fingers Crossed will also take to the stage.

"Whilst our show is very visual, it is important to us that those who are deaf can enjoy the performance in its entirety.

"We are proud to have the interpreters at each of our shows to help make that possible.

"Thank you so much to the kind businesses who help us continue our valuable work."

The CIC relies on donations to be able to hold their inclusive events, and contact businesses in each area they visit to see if they would like to cover the cost of a child’s ticket.

Donations are welcomed by anyone who would like to help make a difference.

The performances will be held at 1.30pm and 4pm at The Space on Saturday, January 11, 2025.
