An annual Christmas event received a 'festive boost' from a housebuilder.

The Norwich Open Christmas celebration benefited from the donation of food and essential items by employees of Orbit Homes.

The staff members collected a variety of non-perishable food items, chocolates, sweets, cakes, warm clothing and toiletries for the charity.

These donations contributed towards the annual event on December 25, providing a Christmas celebration for those alone, homeless, or in need, including a Christmas dinner, festive entertainment, food parcels and clothing.

Ray Winney, regional managing director at Orbit Homes, said: "At Orbit Homes, we’re committed to making a positive impact in our local communities and we understand how important Norwich Open Christmas is to the local area."

Mr Winney hoped that the donation helped to make the occasion "special and enjoyable for everyone in the community, regardless of their circumstances."

Bill Ashton, chairman at Norwich Open Christmas, said: "For more than 30 years, Norwich Open Christmas has supported those facing homelessness and loneliness at Christmas.

"With food banks facing unprecedented pressure, our support is now more important than ever, and we are grateful for this donation by Orbit Homes."

This year's Norwich Open Christmas took place at the King’s Centre in Norwich.
