There's music, comedy, drama, family theatre, talks, screenings, dance improv, community performances and more in Theatre Royal Winchester's spring programme of events.
The season starts with a talk for all true crime fans – exploring real-life crime scenes and killers – Murder: Staged (January 10); popular doctor turned writer Adam Kay returns with his brand-new show about life on and off the wards – Undoctored (February 10); and bestselling author Kate Mosse delves into the inspiration behind her modern classic, Labyrinth (March 8).
January marks the beginning of a packed musical programme – with contemporary folk performed in The Ciderhouse Rebellion (January 11). Oh What a Night! celebrates the music of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons (January 18 and 19); and vocalist and Radio 2 broadcaster Clare Teal and her band perform the Great American and British Songbooks (February 28).

For drama, Middle Ground Theatre Company’s Dial M For Mayhem features a play within a play – with a group of travelling actors performing Frederick Knott’s classic ‘50’s thriller, Dial M For Murder in Act 1, while Act 2 brings the backstage chaos to the forefront (January 28 to February 1). Raleigh sees Dyad Productions return to Winchester with this one-man show about the Elizabethan explorer and dandy, Sir Walter Raleigh (April 30).
Children and their grown-ups will enjoy an Olivier Award-nominated adaptation of Julia Donaldson’s children’s classic Room on the Broom (February 7 to 9); Exciting Science is a fun and fact-filled show featuring everything from volcanic eruptions to smoke blasters (February 23); while There’s A Monster In Your Show sees Tom Fletcher’s interactive adventure leap from the page to the stage (March 6 and 7).
There are two National Theatre Live screenings too – The Importance of Being Earnest, featuring Dr Who star, Ncuti Gatwa and directed by Max Webster (Life of Pi) on March 30 and Dr. Strangelove, an adaptation of Stanley Kubrick’s comedy featuring seven-time BAFTA Award-winner, Steve Coogan, who plays four roles (April 23).
