Customers hitting out at supermarkets, reality television, and a popular business closing after being open for more than two decades were all top of the news agenda in November 2024.
The month began with an Iceland customer criticising the store for their “misleading” signage.
Ken Ford was in the supermarket’s Eastleigh store when he saw an apparent “buy three, get one free” deal on mince pies.
However, the shopper said he felt “embarrassed” when he got to the till to find he’d been charged full price, with the manageress saying the signage applied to different products on another shelf.

Elsewhere the UK’s biggest bird of prey was spotted soaring over the New Forest.
Daily Echo Camera Club member Jordan Callaghan managed to capture a white-tailed eagle flying overhead. The bird has a whopping wingspan of 2.5 metres.

Meanwhile in Basett, Farhan Khan, a property owner in Ridgemount Avenue, was fined £622 and handed a criminal conviction for building a garden fence too high.
It was found he’d breached planning permission rules for not applying for planning permission to build a fence taller than 1m next to a main road.

At Sainsbury’s in Shirley, customers were “infuriated” over the fact the cashier tills had been replaced with self-service machines.
Sainsbury's shopper Tony Weafer said some elderly shoppers would find the self-checkout tills confusing and would queue for a cashier regardless.

At Marwell Zoo, staff announced the sad death of a “much-loved” giraffe calf called, Mbonisi.
The three-month-old calf’s condition had worsened after getting an infection as a newborn.

The SS United States was once famous for travelling between Southampton and New York in the 1950s but it was announced in November 2024 that the historic ship would be towed from the banks of the Delaware River to become the world’s largest man-made coral reef.

On television, New Forest gardener – Caspar Todd – returned to reality tv show, Married at First Sight UK.
He’d exited the show weeks earlier after ending his ‘marriage’ with Emma Barnes, a sales investment manager from Bristol.
The pair reflected on their time on the show – where couples quite literally marry at first sight – as Caspar noted: “There were some really good times.”

Southampton Harley-Davidson closed in Millbrook after 22 years of trading.
The motorcycle dealership said it was in an “untenable position” and had no choice but to close its doors.

Residents in Dibden Purlieu slammed Hampshire County Council after they claimed a “poorly planned” cycle lane has “ruined” the area and caused safety issues.
Dibden and Hythe councillor, Malcolm Ward, said he’d “never seen so many complaints.”

Finally, there was anger over a firework display at Mayflower Park that Tony Jackson, 35, claimed he “couldn’t see” despite paying nearly £100 to attend the display.
The 35-year-old described the pricing as “atrocious.”
