In a statement to parents and carers, North Baddesley Infant School and Nursery stated that both the infant and junior school had closed on Wednesday, December 18.

A spokesperson for the school said: “You may be aware that there is currently a water supply issue affecting Southampton and the surrounding areas.

“This means that North Baddesley Infant School and Nursery, North Baddesley Junior School and other affected schools in the area will be closed until mains water is resupplied. Please collect your children from school as soon as possible.

It comes after Southern Water apologised to customers across the region with homes being left without water entirely or in some cases, low water pressure.

Southern Water said the widespread problem was due to a “technical issue” at the Testwood Water Supply Works.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Southern Water said: “We’re really sorry that customers in parts of Southampton, Eastleigh, Romsey and the New Forest are experiencing either low pressure or a loss of water supply. This is being caused by a technical issue at our Testwood Water Supply Works.

"Our teams are onsite and working hard to fix the fault, however this is going to take time.

“We’re also setting up bottled water stations and these will open shortly. We will let you know their locations and opening and closing hours ASAP."
