Images have shown the transformation of the former Leisure World site to a car park. 

Many residents in Southampton have fond memories of watching films at Odeon Cinema or drinking with friends at Oceana nightclub at the Leisure World complex in Southampton. 

The site is now a carpark for ABPThe site is now a carpark for ABP (Image: NQ) In 2021, plans were announced to see the site regenerated - demolishing the old Leisure World building and building 650 homes, two hotels, serviced hotel apartments, a cinema and a casino built off West Quay Road. 

However these plans never took off and the site was left to rot for a further three years. 

Leisure World being demolishedLeisure World being demolished (Image: NQ) This was until October 2024, when HWM Group demolished Leisure World for Associated British Ports, which will use the site for cruise parking for the Port.

The demolition project was completed in 16 weeks.

HWM Group recycled 98 per cent of the steel, concrete, and cabling, clearing the site to its original ground level slab.
