Retro festival Let's Rock will not come to Southampton in 2025.

Organisers of the popular event, which has brought the likes of Rick Astley, The Human League, Belinda Carlisle and Jason Donovan to the stage at Southampton Common, have announced a break for next year.

The event first arrived in Southampton in 2014, suggesting a ten year deal for the festival has come to an end.

Organisers, who announced the news on their social media channels, are putting a positive spin on it, describing next year's non event as 'a break for a rest and re-set'.

A Let's Rock spokesperson said: "Remember those golden days when school was out and we looked forward to taking a break for a rest and a re-set, so we were all ready for a new year? Well that's what Lets Rock Southampton is doing in 2025 - taking a well earned rest so it can come back stronger!

"We know our loyal Let's Rockers will understand."

Organisers are suggesting music lovers in Southampton consider Let's Rock Exeter at Powderham Castle as an alternative for festival season 2025 and say they 'very much' hope to see them there.

Let's Rock Southampton is a city institution and a hotly anticipated date on the calendar each July, which even took place, later than planned and with a few more rules and restrictions, during the Covid era.

It's the fabulous festival that fashion forgot and sees tens of thousands of retro loving revellers dress up in neon colours, shell suits, shoulder pads and other 80s fancy dress, with favourites over the years including Hi-De-Hi, Star Wars, Mario and Luigi, The A-Team, Freddie Mercury and Top Gun jumpsuits.

The Let's Rock series first began in 2009. At its peak, Southampton was one of seven festivals in a series taking place in various locations across the UK.

Hundreds of thousands of pounds have been raised for official charity partner Child Bereavement UK over the years.

Only two, Exeter and Shrewsbury, are scheduled for 2025.

Organisers have launched a new series of four daytime clubbing experiences at venues in Exeter, Liverpool, Shrewsbury and Newport in March 2025.
