An independent business has had a busy first month in Winchester.

Westlands Farm Shop, at 154 Winchester High Street, has attracted more than 7,000 customers since it opened - its first branch away from its Shedfield farm.

The shop has made a name for itself as a go-to spot for high-quality, locally-sourced goods.

In its first month, it has sold over 500 loaves of fresh sourdough, more than 400 boxes of Vale Farm Eggs, over 300 steaks from the butchery counter, more than 300 bottles of Cross Valley Milk, and over 100 bottles of local ale.

Westlands Farm Shop was officially opened by Mayor Russell Gordon-Smith.

The shop offers a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, premium meats, and artisanal products, connecting city shoppers with Hampshire produce.

Farm owner Graham Collett said: "The response has been nothing short of incredible. Winchester has shown so much enthusiasm for what we bring to the High Street, and it’s been a joy to welcome so many new faces into our store.

"We’re grateful for the support and are delighted to provide the city with a truly local shopping experience. The team and I are excited for what’s to come as we continue to grow in this fantastic city."

This is the second location for the family-run business, which has been operating its original farm shop in the Meon Valley since 2001.

The opening in Winchester also led to the hiring of a new team, with more than 450 job applications received for various roles.

The store is now taking Christmas pre-orders, providing a selection of locally sourced meats and festive essentials.

Westlands Farm Shop has been in the Meon Valley since 2001 and is now expanding its reach.
