A Southampton nursery has been praised in its latest Ofsted report following an inspection that took place in November.
Learningland Day Nursery, on Wimpson Lane, has once again secured a 'Good' rating in its latest Ofsted inspection, continuing its streak of positive evaluations since 2019.
The report highlights the nursery’s warm and welcoming environment, effective leadership, and a well-thought-out curriculum that supports children’s growth and development.
Inspectors praised the staff’s dedication to fostering strong relationships with children and parents, noting the positive impact of detailed inductions and personalised care plans.
From the outset, staff gather comprehensive information about each child’s preferences and interests, tailoring activities to support their developmental milestones.
According to the inspection report, the nursery excels in promoting communication skills and a love for learning. Activities such as singing nursery rhymes, storytelling, and creative tasks like crafting animal pictures help children engage and build foundational skills.
Staff also effectively support children with special educational needs and those learning English as an additional language, ensuring inclusivity and personalised learning experiences.
Behavioural standards are high at Learningland Day Nursery. Children are encouraged to share, take turns, and practice good manners, supported by well-established daily routines. This approach fosters a sense of security and responsibility among the young learners.
Inspectors also highlighted the strong partnerships between the nursery and parents. Regular updates on children's progress and collaborative planning of next steps ensure that learning extends beyond the nursery environment. Additionally, initiatives promoting independence, such as encouraging self-feeding and tidying up, prepare children for future challenges.
While the nursery continues to demonstrate strong leadership and a cohesive curriculum, the report suggests areas for improvement. Enhanced staff supervision and targeted training could further elevate teaching practices, ensuring an even higher quality of education.
The nursery caters to children aged 0 to 4, with 45 places and 58 currently enrolled. Operating for 51 weeks annually, the facility employs 11 staff members, nine of whom hold early years qualifications at Level 3 or above.
