HOUSEBUILDER Pennyfarthing Homes has launched an online public update and consultation for a proposed housing development.

The New Milton developer is inviting further feedback on its proposed housing development called Swallowfield Park off Manor Road, Milford on Sea.

The proposed scheme, for 170 homes, will feature a mix of one to five-bedroom high-quality homes, catering to a diverse range of residents including first-time buyers.

And 85 of these homes will be designated as affordable housing, “contributing to housing needs and stimulating economic growth in the area”, the developer said.

The scheme will also include significant areas of new public open spaces and footpaths for wider community benefit.

Infrastructure upgrades will also be delivered as a result of the development. These include offsite highways works, including signalised junction at Lymington Road.

In addition, there will be a circa £1million investment into primary schools and more money for infrastructure – which the developer is required to do by the council.

Ben Arnold, land and planning director for Pennyfarthing Homes, said: “We are keen to keep the community up to date about our proposals, as we develop our plans over the coming months.

“Milford on Sea, situated within the New Forest, is a highly sought-after area where affordable housing is often in short supply.

“Our goal is to provide local residents with the opportunity to stay in the area they cherish.”

This site was allocated for residential development in the New Forest Local Plan in 2020.

An outline planning application for up to 170 homes was submitted in 2023 and received planning permission from New Forest District Council in February.

That scheme establishes the principles for development for up to 170 homes, including the accesses to the site from Manor Road and defining areas of the site for housing and landscaping.

Pennyfarthing Homes is now preparing the reserved matters details of the scheme; to show the layout, design of housing and the landscaping details for the site, which will be submitted in 2025.

The scheme will deliver 50 per cent of the homes as affordable homes, including for rent and home ownership – including First Homes available.
