A Gosport man has been arrested after a 20-year-old was hit over the head with a metal baton in a robbery bid.
It happened at around 8.40am on Tuesday in Romsey Road, Winchester, when a would-be robber tried to take his victim's bag.
The victim suffered a cut to the head and was treated at hospital. He has since been discharged.

A 30-year-old Gosport man was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon and attempted robbery.
He has since been released on conditional bail.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: “We are appealing for witnesses following a report of an attempted robbery in Winchester.
“Officers continue to investigate this incident and are appealing for anyone who saw what happened to call 101, quoting the reference number 44240536726.
“We would also like to hear from anyone who thinks they may have dashcam or CCTV footage that may help our investigation.”
