ULTIMATE frisbee enthusiasts from across the south-east braved the blasting wind of Storm Darragh on Sunday to celebrate their sport.

The tournament, held by Braishfield Ultimate – one of England's oldest frisbee clubs – at its home ground was, by all accounts, a roaring success.

Regional, local, and university teams from Chichester, Woking, Southampton, Solent, and other areas participated.

Current club member Peter Feeney described the tournament as a “fun” and “social event” which encourages communication and collaboration.

After some great competition and spectacular demonstrations of skill, great prizes were handed out to the first, second and third-placed teams, as well as those who demonstrated the most skill (and who made the biggest blunders).

"SCU (Southampton City Ultimate) came out on top at the event, but a special mention to Chichester Cobras for really entering the spirit of the event and making every game fun! Local Romsey resident, Owen Stephenson walked away with the prestigious title of Frisbee King."

Peter added: "It was an excellent way to end the year for Braishfield Ultimate and celebrate the growth the club has seen. This year the club has grown in size, got new kits and apparel, attended tournaments and we're looking forwards to 2025 now, a year where we expect to see a lot more great stuff happening. As always, we want to encourage anyone who is curious about the sport, or just wants a fun and healthy activity to fill up their Sunday evening to get in contact."

He said that socialising in Ultimate Frisbee can benefit players. He said: “We believe that a strong social bond enhances our on-field performance and makes every game more enjoyable.”
