An MP has called for tighter fireworks restrictions.
Liberal Democrat MP for Eastleigh, Liz Jarvis, raised the issue in a Westminster debate and expressed concern for vulnerable people, animals, and emergency services.
Ms Jarvis said: "Hundreds of people from Eastleigh have contacted me with their concerns about the noise of fireworks, which is rapidly becoming a larger issue not just limited to New Year’s Eve and Bonfire Night.
"The impact of very loud fireworks and misuse of fireworks on those with living with PTSD, dementia or other mental health challenges can be distressing, as well as causing huge stress for pets and putting additional pressure on our emergency services on some of the busiest nights of the year.
"Ultimately, it is our emergency services, our NHS, our vets and our animal rescue centres that have to pick up the pieces. A proper review of the fireworks legislation is long overdue."
Ms Jarvis backed proposals to lower the noise limits for F2 and F3 fireworks to 90 decibels and urged for stricter rules on their sale and use.
