Firefighters were called to Redbridge Towers in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service received reports of an alarm sounding at a high-rise building on Cuckmere Lane, a little after midnight on Tuesday, December 10.
After arriving at the scene, firefighters discovered the incident was a false alarm before returning to base.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, said: “Southampton firefighters were called to a sounding alarm at a high-rise property on Cuckmere Lane in Southampton, shortly after midnight yesterday evening.
“The incident was found to have been a false alarm, with crews returning to station following the stop message at 12.30am.”
