A HAMPSHIRE village pub has scooped a prestigious award.
The White Horse in Otterbourne, which is ranked in the top 10 per cent of pubs nationwide, has been awarded an AA Rosette for the 12th consecutive year.
The pub, which is part of the Ideal Collection group and led by head chef Lewis Hodder, has once again been honoured for its food, presentation and service.
Known for its "cosy charm", the pub has been part of the village’s dining scene since joining Ideal Collection in 2011, earning its first Rosette the following year – a streak that has continued ever since.
The AA Rosette scheme, first introduced in 1956, celebrates restaurants that demonstrate high standards in taste, presentation, and service. Achieving a Rosette places a restaurant among the top 10 per cent of dining establishments in the UK.
Oliver Weeks, managing director of Ideal Collection, said the recognition reflects a consistent dedication to quality and high-quality ingredients which is what Ideal Collection is all about.
He said: “We are delighted that our venues have retained their AA Rosette awards for another year. This achievement wouldn’t be possible without the support of our wonderful local suppliers and the hard work of our incredible staff.
“Ideal Collection is a corporate member of Hampshire Fare, meaning we’re passionate about sourcing local ingredients. Sourcing responsibly is incredibly important to us, so we only work with the very best suppliers who share our values - many of whom can be found right here on the south coast.”
Ideal Collection operates three other standout venues across Hampshire, including waterside destinations Boathouse Swanwick and Boat House Chichester, as well as the rural wedding and events venue Kimbridge Barn.
Each venue "reflects the group’s commitment to creating unique dining experiences tailored to its setting".
The pub, which sits on Main Road, was also awarded a five-out-of-five food hygiene rating by the Food Standards Agency in July.
Another Ideal Collection pub was also given an AA Rosette: The Bugle at Hamble earned the accolade at the same time as The White Horse.
Describing this pub, Ideal Collection said: "As the oldest pub and only free house in Hamble, The Bugle is a cherished part of the community."
