Police in Eastleigh swept drugs, cash and weapons off the streets last week to tackle drug supply.

Three men were arrested as part of the crime crackdown to stop violence and misery in the community.

One of three arrests was made when police conducted a stop-check at Eastleigh Railway Station on November 29.

A 27-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A.

Suspected Class A drugs, £140 in cash and a mobile phone were seized before the man was released on conditional police bail, pending further enquiries.

On the same day, a 25-year-old man from West End was arrested on Botley Road in Fair Oak.

More than £900 in cash was seized, along with suspected Class A drugs and cannabis, and the man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug.

He has been released under investigation, pending further enquires.

A man from London was also apprehended by police earlier that week.

At 6am on November 26, officers raided a property on Lewis Road, where they arrested a 23-year-old man from Lewisham on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug.

Police seized £2,000 in cash, a wooden baton, cannabis, drug paraphernalia and mobile phones.

The arrested man has since been released on conditional police bail, pending further enquiries.

Speaking on the three arrests, Eastleigh Chief Inspector Matt Paling said: “Drug-related activity will not be tolerated in our communities and we will continue to relentlessly pursue and deal with those who are causing the most harm in our town.

“As we often say, though, we can only do what we do with the support and help of the community itself.

“The information we receive from the public is vital to us being able to carry out warrants and other operations, and tackle illegal drug activity across Eastleigh.”

Officers from Hampshire have been targeting individuals responsible for supplying drugs in the area, including those travelling from large cities from further afield.
