A man has been charged with drink driving after an HGV crashed into an ambulance.
Emergency services were on the scene of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian at the junction of High Road and Parkville Road in Southampton before 5.30pm last night.
The pedestrian, a woman in her 60s, suffered minor injuries.
While ambulance staff were at the scene, a lorry collided with their vehicle. No one was injured in the crash.
Now 48-year-old Lee Wise of Warwick Close, Salisbury, has been charged with drink driving.
He has been bailed to attend Southampton Magistrates Court on February 3.
Posting on X, officers from Hampshire Constabulary said: “Driver of this HGV has been arrested for drink driving this evening, after colliding with an ambulance which was on scene with us at an RTC in Southampton.
“Driver will now be spending his night in a cell and one less ambulance on the road tonight.”
The ambulance had to be taken out of service, South Central Ambulance Service confirmed.

A spokesperson said: "Fortunately neither our ambulance crew, nor anyone else already at the scene, were injured as a result of this.
"Thank you to our colleagues from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary for their support tonight and please don't drink and drive.
"The original incident that the ambulance was attending involved a collision between a car and a pedestrian, with the pedestrian sustaining a serious arm and shoulder injury.
"There was a delay getting the patient to hospital as we had to send a second ambulance, with the first ambulance having to be taken out of service."
The incident sparked outrage online, with one X user writing: "Good grief!
"Hope the occupants of the ambulance were okay and those at the RTC."
Another added: "Hope you and the ambo crew were uninjured and not by the vehicle when this happened."
