A primary school in Totton has received another strong Ofsted report, building on its “Good” grading from 2019.
Lydlynch Infant School on Lydlynch Road has been praised for showing children the world of work through visitors and workshops explaining careers.
Lydlynch hosted financial advisor Perry Whitmarsh , who spoke to five to seven year olds about the importance of saving and avoiding wasting money.
Ofsted said that pupils “enjoy plentiful leadership opportunities that enable them to take on different responsibilities” through workshops.
The school received a “Requires improvement” rating in 2017 but has been on the up ever since.
Headteacher Sophie Millington has only been in post since September 2024 but told the Echo she was "extremely proud" of her staff, calling the report a "testament to the care and commitment" they put in.
She continued: "My staff are dedicated to providing the best education for all our children.
"I strongly believe in giving children first hand experiences that open their eyes to the world around them and inspire them to learn, as well as creating good citizens and role models."

Ofsted paid particular attention to the school’s art lessons, which demonstrate values of resilience and independence by creating multiple versions to reinforce how important it is to practice.
The regulatory body said: “Pupils learn from their mistakes and understand how practice means that they become better at what they are learning.”
With 130 pupils on the school roll, Ofsted say that adults “immediately” address bad behaviour to make sure that learning is “not interrupted.”
Staff also spoke positively to Ofsted, saying that they felt supported in their “professional development” and that they feel their well-being is prioritised.

However, towards the end of the report, Ofsted did note that there are “some inconsistencies in how well the curriculum is implemented” and that sometimes learning materials do not fit what the curriculum is asking.
Regardless, the education regulatory body believe that Lydlynch Infant School has taken effective action to maintain the good standards identified in their 2019 inspection.
Since September 2024, Ofsted no longer issue headline gradings like “Good” or “Requires improvement,” instead encouraging parents to read full reports.
