Father Christmas is set to return to Truro's Royal Cornwall Museum for eight dates in December.

The festive experience will commence this Saturday, December 7.

Families will join Jingle the Elf for a storytelling session before meeting Father Christmas at his Kernow office in the museum.

As part of the 40-minute walking theatre and grotto experience, every child will receive a small gift.

Presented by Cornwall-based Coppice Theatre, the event is supported by Truro BID and hosted by the Royal Cornwall Museum.

There is step-free access to the museum's second floor, and prams and buggies can be left at the entrance.

New additions this year include two relaxed shows aimed at SEND audiences on December 11 and December 18 at 2pm.

Families are welcome to photograph their child meeting Father Christmas, and explore the museum after the event.

"We’re glad to be supporting the experience both financially and in kind since the event attracts footfall into the city."

Co-artistic director of Coppice Theatre, Mike Tonkin-Jones, added: "We're thrilled to be back at The Royal Cornwall Museum this year, supported once again by Truro BID."

"It brought us great joy last year to witness both returning and first-time visitors to the museum make some lasting festive memories."

Royal Cornwall Museum's learning manager, Kate Clayton, said: "The team here at Royal Cornwall Museum are excited to be hosting Father Christmas once again this year."

"We look forward to welcoming families into the museum for festive fun, craft and storytelling in our beautiful, sparkly new Mineral Gallery."
