A charity drive at an Eastleigh hotel has collected over 1,000 pairs of glasses for rural African communities.
The initiative, led by Peter and Anne Corder, distributes pre-loved eyewear to areas in Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Malawi where opticians are scarce.
The drive took place at the Holiday Inn Southampton-Eastleigh, with support from the Spirit Health Club, hotel guests, and staff.
Peter Corder said: "When your eyesight deteriorates in rural Africa, there are no high street opticians. Most people simply accept the inevitable, but all that is changing thanks to generous donors."
Jane Standing, general manager at Holiday Inn Southampton-Eastleigh M3 Jct 13, commented: "We are proud to support projects like Specs for Africa, which create life-changing impacts for people in need. It's heartwarming to see our local community come together for such an important cause."
The Specs for Africa project has delivered around 6,000 pairs of glasses since starting two years ago.
