Congestion on the M27 has now cleared after rush hour traffic has died down.

A 50mph speed restriction remains in place while National Highways continue their long-term resurfacing works.
National Highways revealed to the Echo a date when the speed restriction will be lifted.

Delays are being caused by a mixture of rush hour traffic and the lane closures caused by ongoing National Highways resurfacing work.

RAC Traffic Map is reporting further delays of around 15 minutes, stating the total travel time is up to 30 minutes between two junctions.
RAC Traffic Map said: "Delays on M27 through the roadworks Westbound from J8 A3024 (Bursledon / Hamble) to J5 A335 (Eastleigh). Travel time is 30 minutes."
Westbound traffic is currently gridlocked between Junctions 8 and 9 as 9am approaches. Google Maps' traffic view marks the area as "severely" delayed.

Congestion westbound is now easing past Junction 7 where the M27 flies over Botley Road, but from Junction 9 to 7, delays are still present.
National Highways' traffic camera shows that while there is heavy congestion westbound through the closed lane area limited to 50mph, traffic heading in the opposite direction is completely unaffected.

RAC Traffic Map is still reporting 10 minute delays heading westbound between Junction 7 and 9 on the M27.

There are currently delays of approximately 10 minutes - as reported by AA Traffic Map - between Junction 9 and 7 westbound on the M27.
Lane closures are in place as part of National Highways' wider M27 resurfacing works. The 50mph speed restriction applied during the works remains enforced too.
