Hampshire households are set to receive £7.1m in support for food and energy costs.

The county council will distribute the money from the Government's Household Support Fund until March 31, 2025.

The funding will provide grants for sustainable food and fuel support, Citizens Advice East Hampshire for utility costs, and Citizens Advice Hampshire for online application assistance, among others.

Hampshire County Council’s Cabinet Lead Member for Children's Services, Councillor Roz Chadd, recently approved the programme and said: "We're delighted that we can extend the Household Support Fund help for another six months which will help low-income families and individuals who are struggling financially.

"We will also continue to work closely with other local organisations including district and borough councils, education providers, charities and neighbourhood groups to ensure that eligible households receive support with food, energy and water bills and assistance with essential household items."

Support will also be given to unpaid carers, the Environment Centre, and the Hampshire Library Service.

Social care support will also receive a share, providing direct aid to vulnerable households.
