A group of Ghostbusters are set to descend on Southampton this Christmas to mark an important milestone for fans of the film.

It comes amid celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the UK release of the original 1984 film, starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis.

Cosplayers at Hampshire and Dorset Ghostbusters will meet outside the Bargate at 11am on Saturday, December 7, to mingle with crowds gathered at the city’s Christmas market, with people able to pose for photos and keep Southampton ghost free.

Hampshire and Dorset Ghostbuster, Richard Curtis, said: “Seeing a Ghostbuster brings a smile to so many people’s faces, whether they be young or old.

“There are many people who grew up loving the antics of the team through the films or the cartoon series.

“Christmas is a great time to be nostalgic and spread some festive cheer.”

Saturday, December 7, will be 40 years to the day Ghostbusters was released in the UK – with cosplayers displaying a special 40th anniversary badge on their costumes.
