Plans to demolition a car showroom to build two three-storey student accommodation buildings on a busy city road have been submitted.
Fortitudo and Petra Development have applied to knock down the "redundant" building on St Deny's Road to erect the accommodation buildings, a single storey building for communal facilities, plus cycle and bin stores.
The proposed development will offer 61 studio student apartments and would use existing vehicular and pedestrian access.

Plans were previously submitted for a similar development in November 2022, though Southampton City Council felt the accommodation would look "unduly dominant" on the road and refused the motion.
The 2024 plans have "significantly reduced" the scale of development, according to Fortitudo's planning, design and access statement.
They also highlight lift access will be available after previous travel concerns under the Equalities Act.
The nearest university to the development is the University of Southampton's Highfield Campus, which is an 18-minute walk away.
