An MP as backed Southampton getting £4.6 million to improve local bus services.
Southampton Itchen MP Darren Paffey said: "While the city council and local bus operators have made some progress in improving local bus services, it’s clear that there is still more that needs to be done after 14 years of national government neglect.
"That’s why I’m very pleased that the Transport Secretary has confirmed more than £4 million of new bus funding in the city.
"I’ll be speaking to the council and bus operators to find out more about how they will be using this funding to deliver much-needed improvements to services in Southampton Itchen."
The announcement came as the Government unveiled a £1 billion nationwide funding boost for bus services.
Transport Secretary Louise Haigh confirmed £712 million for local authorities to improve services, plus an additional £243 million for bus operators.
The Government also announced a £3 cap on fares, running until the end of 2025.
