A bus company has highlighted the challenges faced by boys and men in education and work.

Bluestar is drawing attention to these issues to coincide with International Men's Day today (November 19).

Nikki Honer, head of communications, said: "Many who are struggling with issues like attainment, retraining, stress, redundancy and unemployment remain silent - for fear of any embarrassment they might experience from speaking out."

The company is calling for open discussion and offers an employee assistance programme, which provides access to advice, counselling, and mental health first aiders.

Bluestar also recognises the struggle men face in finding employment without the necessary education, qualifications, and training, and offers support by providing paid training.

Ms Honer said: "We want our male colleagues and potential colleagues to know we understand the issues they may face when it comes to employment and mental health, and we are here to support them in every way possible."
