See a marvellous musical version of one of the greatest works of literature brought to the stage in Eastleigh this November.

A Christmas Carol, the story of Ebenezer Scrooge by Charles Dickens, with music from Disney composer Alan Menken, is being performed by Eastleigh Operatic and Musical Society at The Point.

Scrooge is played by experienced local performer and corporate restructuring solicitor Mike Pavitt, a huge fan of Dickens who has read the book ten or more times.

He said: “Scrooge, for me, is all of us, every person who has ever withdrawn into their own mind, convinced that nothing they can do could possibly influence events beyond their tiny sphere or help to overcome want or misery in the world. He is also every employer who ever forgot what a profound impact they can have upon the lives of their staff and trading partners.

"When confronted by the traumas of his past and the consequences of his isolation and unwillingness to help of others, Scrooge slowly comes to realise that community begins with the individual and he learns a lesson which is as relevant to us all today as it ever was."

A Christmas Carol runs from November 6 to 9 with tickets available at thepointeastleigh.co.uk
