The "thoughts and prayers" of a Totton school's community are with a teenage girl who suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car, a headteacher has said.
Hounsdown School headteacher David Veal said the school was informed one of its students was involved in the crash, which happened on the A326 in Hythe on Thursday evening.
It involved a white MG3.

Mr Veal said: "The thoughts and prayers of the entire school community are with the young person, their family and friends at this time.
"As their headteacher, I thank the students, staff, parents and carers for their kindness and sensitivity at this difficult time," he told the BBC.
Mr Veal continued that students had been offered support and parents had been contacted.
The girl was rushed to hospital in a serious condition, Hampshire Constabulary confirmed on Friday.
The force is now appealing for witnesses.
"Anyone who saw what happened or has any information, including dash cam footage that may assist our enquiries, is asked to call 101 quoting the reference 44240463956," a spokesperson said.
