Age Concern Hampshire is set to welcome new leadership as its long-serving chief executive officer departs.
Helen Callen, who has been at the helm since 2018, is stepping down from her executive role but will continue her association with the charity as chair of the board.
Mrs Callen's tenure saw the organisation navigate various challenges while bolstering its support for older people across the county. She said: "This decision was not made lightly, leading Age Concern Hampshire has been the greatest honour of my career.
"I am proud of our achievements, particularly through the pandemic, which would not be possible without the dedicated efforts of the charity’s staff and volunteers, and I would like to thank them all."
The board of directors has expressed gratitude for her efforts, especially during the pandemic, and has welcomed her commitment to aiding the transition to new leadership.
Her new voluntary role is expected to ensure a smooth handover and maintain her influence within the charity.
Age Concern Hampshire, established in 1985, offers a range of services from care and wellbeing centres, hospital-to-home services, foot care clinics, and home assistance, to community information volunteer services, and activities across the county.
The charity is now gearing up for this new chapter, blending continuity with fresh leadership.
