Whether it’s Mr Men mosaics, giant murals, or sculptures of wild animals let loose in Southampton, Will Rosie’s artwork has become synonymous with the city.
The art lover started his business – All About Art – in 2007, after sciatica caused him caused him to quit his job as a landscape gardener.
After teaching himself how to design and create mosaics by watching YouTube videos, Will turned his hobby into a dream job.
“I think you’re born with it,” said the 51-year-old from Portswood.
“I was once told you can’t teach someone to be an artist, but you can teach technique.
“As an artist I think you need to create things that appeal to people – not just to yourself – so it can be seen by as many people as possible.
“I just want to have a laugh in life and get along with people and I hope that comes across in what I do.”
Will’s work has seen him create mosaics of children’s favourite Mr Men characters, as well as his ‘Mr Saints’ mosaic that he stuck to the wall of Fratton Park, the home of Southampton Football Club’s bitter rivals, Portsmouth.

He’s also been privately commissioned to create mosaics for the first Lord Mayor of Southampton, Jacqui Rayment and Southampton Test MP, Satvir Kaur.
Alongside his mosaics, Will has also designed colourful versions of rhinos, zebras, and lighthouses that have been displayed in Southampton city centre year on year, before they’re auctioned off to raise money for charity.
He said: “It’s quite humbling. Occasionally people see me out and about or see my work and want to stop and chat or take a selfie.
“Have to question it sometimes but it’s inspiring and if it helps just one person find their way into discovering art then I’m happy. It’s nice to know you’ve had a positive impact on people.”
Next year Will I planning to create a mosaic for each square on the monopoly board game and hiding them in Southampton for people to discover and complete the trail.
Outside of Southampton, Will’s artwork has also seen him install a mosaic in a fireplace on Peter Andre’s 60 Minute Makeover and fly to Rome to design a cartoon themed illustration in the Italian capital’s Disney store.
