Whether it’s looking to find love, earn a business investment worth £250,000, or teaching some of the UK’s most well-known celebrities to dance, Southampton has its share of reality TV stars.
Here’s a round-up of the latest TV personalities from our city to hit our screens.
Caspar Todd – Married at First Sight UK
Married at First Sight sees a group of singletons who are searching to find love quite literally marry their other half as they meet them for the first time.
Currently airing on E4,The 2024 edition of the show has seen Caspar Todd, a gardener at a private estate in the New Forest, marry Emma Barton, an investment sales manager from Bristol.
The pair have endured a rocky relationship, with Caspar confessing that he didn’t find Emma attractive while on their honeymoon.
Though the pair still remain married, time will tell to see whether they can last the entirety of the show.
Maria – Love Is Blind UK
Love Is Blind UK saw Maria, a make-up artist from Southampton, search for the man of her dreams.
Rated the number one show on Netflix when it aired in the summer of 2024, the first season ofDating behind pods and unable to see each other, couples successful in finding love only meet when they find love – not seeing each other beforehand.
Maria met Tom, an advertising consultant from London, and were set to marry in the show’s season finale.
Unfortunately for Emma, Tom left her standing at the altar after deciding “it wasn’t the right time".
Charlotte – 90 Day Fiancé
90 Day Fiancé showcased Charlotte as one of the series’ main participants as she got engaged to – and then married – her holiday romance Johan in the Dominican Republic.
The Discovery+ showThough it first showed signs of promise, the series ended with Charlotte throwing her wedding ring into the sea and vowing to divorce Johan – labelling him a “con artist" – after she’d received information that led her to believe he’d had affairs with other women.
Hugo Godfroy – Love Island
Love Island saw Hugo Godfroy from Southampton take part, hoping to find love.
This year’s series ofSelf-described as “massively driven,” Hugo made a swift exit from the show after 11 episodes, without a new partner.
Sohail Chowdhary – The Apprentice
The Apprentice, hoping to land a £250,000 business investment from Lord Alan Sugar.
Southampton resident Sohail Chowdhary joined the 2023 series ofOwner of martial arts franchise AG Martial Arts, Sohail made it through seven weeks of the show before being eliminated.
Speaking of his time on The Apprentice to the Echo, he said: “You're in the reception area, you go into the boardroom, you're there talking to them (Alan Sugar and the business associates), and next thing you know, you're off to Antigua and Barbuda.”
Kai Widdrington – Strictly Come Dancing
Strictly Come Dancing since 2021.
Professional ballroom dancer, Kai Widdrington has appeared onOriginally from Southampton, Kai remains on Strictly Come Dancing but is without a celebrity partner for the current series airing on BBC 1.
Also known for his stage shows, he performed in Southampton earlier this year with fellow Strictly pro Nadiya Bychkova.
