A Southampton couple have said they were dealt a ‘kick in the teeth’ after British Airways axed all its summer 2025 flights from Southampton Airport.
Clive Webb, 67, and his wife Bev have flown from Southampton Airport to Malaga every six months for the past ten years.
The couple travelled with BA, and prior to that Flybe before the company went into administration in 2020.
Reacting to last week's news that BA were pulling all its routes from Southampton Airport next summer, Clive said BA's decision means they will not be able to go abroad as often.
He said: “We were just gutted – we had our next trip booked for May next year with ten of us booked to go.
“It's too late to cancel the trip so we have no choice but to fly from London.
“After going out to Malaga twice a year for the last decade and spending time in a gorgeous villa with views over the mountains, the beach and the town, now we will not be able to go on nearly as many trips.
“All of us were really shocked at BA for this decision – the flights were always full.
“I’m very tall and BA offered just a little extra leg room which was brilliant, we thought it was just a great service all round.
“It's just such a kick in the teeth for us.”

The 67-year-old added that, despite the disappointment, he was very impressed that the flights were transferred to Heathrow Airport in London at no extra cost.
He added: “I was impressed it was transferred without having to pay – if I had cancelled the Southampton flights and re-booked for Heathrow it would have cost an additional £450.”
In a brief statement, Southampton Airport said: "Clearly it’s disappointing when any route is removed.
"However, we are in constant dialogue with airlines regarding the introduction of new services and that includes backfilling the routes withdrawn by British Airways."
BA added: "We are suspending our summer 2025 operations from Southampton Airport and contacting any affected customers, with options including rebooking on alternative flights with us or another airline or a full refund."
