A 30-metre-tall communication tower in Hedge End could be knocked down amid plans to create office space.
Hargreaves Management want to demolish the now-redundant tower and turn the adjoining centre down in Hamilton Way into an industrial, warehouse or office space.
Small changes to the parking layout would be made to include disabled spaces and covered cycle storage facilities.
In November 1999, Eastleigh Borough Council granted planning permission for the tower.
However, due to the evolution of telecommunications and technology, this “is no longer needed”.
The statement said that taking down the 30-metre tower would have visual benefits by reducing the impact of “this prominent structure”.
There would be no major change in the external appearance of the building itself other than to the front, where the clutter of barriers, ramps and handrails would be removed, plans said.
Public consultation is open until October 22.
