Take off on a magic carpet ride or enjoy a host of family fun this weekend.

At Mayflower Theatre...

From the producers that brought you The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and Frozen, comes the spectacular Disney Broadway and West End musical Aladdin, which has flown into Southampton for its opening weekend. 

Already seen by over 14 million people worldwide, this exuberant production, based on the 1992 animated film is filled with unforgettable magic, comedy, breath-taking sets and dazzling costumes. It also features new music, alongside all the smash hit songs by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, Friend Like Me, A Whole New World, One Jump Ahead, Prince Ali, and Arabian Nights.

Aladdin runs until September 29 at Mayflower Theatre. 

In Netley Abbey...

Pop-Up Unwrapped Festival will be making a return for its second year at Netley Abbey Cricket Ground on Saturday from 11am to 2pm.

Families can enjoy a fabulous, visually stunning and interactive soap bubble display. The colours, shapes, and movement of the bubbles will captivate audiences of all ages.

Then get your groove on and throw some shapes at the silent disco.

The Science Dude offers a fun-filled, educational science show that promises to leave you both curious and amazed!

Rummage through the rubble with Bin Rat and her friends Mike and Angela from Squeaky Clean Street Cleaners to discover where all the junk goes!

At St Mary's...

It's a return to Women's Championship action for Saints, who take on newly relegated Bristol City at St Mary's on Sunday at 2pm.

In new coach Remi Allen's first game in charge, Marieanne Spacey-Cale will now take on a director of football role at the club.

Southampton FC Women are set to compete in the second tier for a third straight season having achieved a club record points total (39) and record finish of fourth last season.

At Bucklers Hard...

Visitors are invited to make the most of Heritage Open Days Festival with free entry to Buckler's Hard Museum this weekend at the maritime village on the banks of the Beaulieu River.

Mary Montagu-Scott will also give free talks about work to preserve the world’s only surviving wreck of a ship built at Buckler’s Hard, after being part of an investigative dive of the wreck in Uruguay earlier this year. 

On your free visit to the museum, discover more about the maritime village where ships for Nelson’s fleet at Trafalgar were built. See exhibits including Nelson’s original baby clothes, listen in on conversations between villagers of the past and follow residents’ stories in the exhibition of village life. Dogs are welcome on a lead in the museum, so bring the whole family along!

The Southampton Mineral and Fossil Show returns to its city roots for the first time in over 20 years on Saturday.

The Southampton Mineral and Fossil Socety has been running the show for more than 40 years, in Lyndhurst for the past 22.

Expect 30 sellers of minerals and fossils, meteorites and rock related jewellery, fossil related toys and books along with exhibitors from museums and universities talking about everything from dinosaurs to seashells.

Around 500 visitors enjoyed the show last year and organisers are expecting even more this time around.
