A person was taken to a place of safety after an incident on the railway line at the weekend.
Services through Botley were delayed because of the incident, which took place at 1.30pm on Sunday.
South Western Railway initially reported police were dealing with an incident which affected the railway.
In a statement, a spokesperson for British Transport Police has confirmed that officers responded to a concern for welfare incident.

They said: “Officers were called to the line near Botley railway station at 1.31pm on September 1, to reports of a concern for welfare.
They added: “Officers attended, and a person was taken to a place of safety.”
All lines reopened a little under an hour after British Transport Police were called to the scene.
